L'OSSERVATORE ROMANO ON CELLULAR TELEPHONES
VATICAN CITY, August 14 (ZENIT.org)
During the special Youth Jubilee,
the Vatican newspaper, L'Osservatore Romano, can be consulted on the
tiny screen of a cellular phone connected to the Internet.
Taking advantage of the celebration of the World Youth Day, which will
be held in Rome from August 15-20, the Vatican newspaper will begin to
be published in WAP format at www.wapgmg2000.com .
The purpose of the initiative is to make the Vatican newspaper more
accessible to the young. (Cellular phones are extremely common in Italy,
due to competitive pricing.) All young people attending the World Youth
Day events will be able to follows the celebrations live, and easily
find information on times and places of events.
The service will be offered initially in Italian and English.
