The circle of love begins and ends with God. Linked to this unending Triune circle are the circular bands of holy marriage providing privileges and responsibilities that we must account for: a living, human soul accountable to God. How we prepare that soul will determine our own accountability.

In our editorial this week, after explaining our new weekly format for providing daily issues of the DAILY CATHOLIC, we proclaim the value of family and family values and the priceless treasure of begetting children as God has deigned from all time. As we watch the Democrats falling all over themselves proclaiming it's all about family and children, we have to ask: IF THEY'RE FOR FAMILY, WHY ARE THEY KILLING THE FAMILY OFF THROUGH ABORTION AND PROMOTION OF SIN? It's a double standard that no family can afford to swallow for the sake of their own soul and the sake of future generations. Pope John Paul II said it best, "If you want equal justice for all and true freedom and lasting peace, then, America, defend life." The Democrats don't. God is for life. Therefore, the syllogism would fit that God is not for the Democrats. Plain and simple. That's the way Jesus wants us to live, as little children raising children for His honor and glory to pass the Faith He founded down to future generations. We can't do that if we vote for pro-abortion candidates, regardless of any other issue. It's that simple! Rather than eroding family values or entrusting a corrupt government to set the values, we should realize that those responsible for establishing family values and virtues are we who are parents. No political rhetoric will implant family virtues better than we can if we only follow God's laws and His Holy Church. In her column for August 18th, Sister Mary Lucy Astuto relates the words of the well-known messenger Father Don Stefano Gobbi that Our Lady's Immaculate Heart will triumph this year! Not ones to pinpoint dates, both Fr. Gobbi and Sister realize the imminence of this event that it will be preceded by a cleansing of the earth and souls by God.

SATURDAY Saint John Eudes

August 19th is the Feast of Saint John Eudes, the 17th century holy priest who founded the Congregation of Jesus and Mary, devoted to fostering vocations to repopulate the clergy with dedicated men who would tend to the sick and the poor. He also worked closely with Saint Margaret Mary Alacoque in spreading devotion to the Sacred Heart.

SUNDAY World Youth Days 2000

Today Pope John Paul II concludes the phenomenally successful and vibrant World Youth Days 2000 with an outdoor Mass for over one million youth in Rome. We bring his opening address for this significant five-day event on the Solemnity of the Assumption, which is considered one of the highlights of this Jubilee Year.

MONDAY

Rather than being bull-headed and locking horns over liberal and conservative issues, we should follow the example of Christ and His Church! After all, Jesus was the ideal liberal and ideal conservative! That is the gist of Pat Ludwa's VIEW FROM THE PEW column on this day when we also celebrate the Feast of Pope Saint Pius X

TUESDAY Queenship of Mary

August 22nd we celebrate the glorious Feast of the QUEENSHIP OF MARY. This highest honor was God's way of showing us all how total loyalty is rewarded. We, too, can achieve rewards in Heaven by being loyal subjects on earth. Also in this issue, Cyndi Cain continues her SYMPHONY OF SUFFERING column.

WEDNESDAY Flag of Greed and Selfishness

For those who disregard God's laws, the above flag is their allegiance and as long as prosperity procreates, they'll do all they can to prevent procreation of children as God intended. In his column, Dr. Frank Joseph decries the lengths the pro-aborts have gone to in promoting this and likens their manifesto to Hitler's. It is also the Feast of St. Rose of Lima.

THURSDAY

August 24th is the Feast of the Apostle Saint Bartholomew who was known as the Israelite Nathaniel when Christ called him to join Him for this Jew was incapable of deceit per John 1: 47, "Behold a true Israelite in whome there is no guile!"
