Postulator for Mother Teresa's Beatification cause douses hopes of any progress during Jubilee Year
As hundreds of pilgrims poured into Calcutta to celebrate posthumously the 90th birthday of Mother Teresa, the mood was somewhat somber in the knowledge that her cause for beatification won't be this year. That comes from the Postulator for her cause, Father Brian Kolodiejchuk and it was confirmed by Mother's successor Sister Nirmala, who expressed no sadness at the news, reminding all that such processes always take time and assuaged all that in due course it will happen and that all need to have patience and pray for God's will. more
Pope will vacate Castel Gandolfo tomorrow; summer officially over as Holy See sets sight on activities for September
 His Holiness Pope John Paul II is packing again, this time wrapping up things at his summer palace in the hills at Castel Gandolfo where he will exit tomorrow to return permanently for the year to Rome in time for his Wednesday Papal Audience tomorrow afternoon. He gave his last audiences on Sunday; first his Angelus Address we carried in yesterday's issue, and later that evening with members of the Diocese of Albano where Castel Gandolfo is located. more
Embryonic Cell Stem Research guidelines approved by Clinton are illegal according to NCCB
The final guidelines for destructive human
embryo research, released by the National Institutes of Health
(NIH), "are immoral and illegal as well as unnecessary for
medical progress," said Richard Doerflinger, Associate Director
of the Pro-Life Secretariat at the National Conference of
Catholic Bishops. "The Clinton Administration has ignored the moral
objections submitted by tens of thousands of Americans during
the NIH's public comment period," he further said. more
