    At noon today, when John Paul II gave his last "Angelus" message before going on vacation, he mentioned the meeting of the Mixed International Commission for Theological Dialogue Between the Catholic Church and the Orthodox Churches, which is taking place in Baltimore, to address some important topics of the dialogue between the two Christian confessions.

    This is one of a series of meetings held periodically in various countries of the world. The Baltimore meeting should have taken place last year; however, because of the NATO attacks on Serbia, the Orthodox Church requested its postponement.

    "I invite all to pray to the Lord to infuse in hearts the gifts of his Spirit, so that this meeting will foster an ever greater understanding between Catholics and Orthodox and thus contribute to ulterior progress toward the desired goal of full ecclesial communion," the Pope said. ZE00070910
