JUBILEE COMMITTEE PREPARES DOCUMENT ON PRISONS
VATICAN (CWNews.com)
The Vatican's central committee on the Jubilee
will soon publish a statement on the pastoral needs of people in prison. The
document is being prepared in anticipation of the Jubilee for prisoners,
which will be observed in Rome on July 9.
Archbishop Crescenzio Sepe, the secretary-general of the Jubilee committee,
said the document would focus on the pastoral needs of prisoners, and on the
conditions in the world's prisons.
On July 9, as part of the Jubilee observance, Pope John Paul is scheduled to
visit prisoners at Rome's Regina Coeli jail, which is situated on the Tiber near
the Vatican.
