Be very much in the world, but not of the world and rekindle the missionary spirit for the new millennium
Just as we carried the 1998 address of Archbishop Charles J. Chaput, OFM Conv. to the Mile Hi Congress last year, so also we bring you this year's in which he states that the Catholic faithful need to take the form of faithful, obedient disciples for as he states - "Either we form society, or society will form us." Archbishop Chaput is one of the leading new orthodox shepherds who sets the tone of loyalty and adherence to the faith and, among many experts, is one of the leading American candidates for the cardinalate in the next Consistory. For the final part of four installments of the Archbishop's address Forming Disciples for the Third Millennium, click on MITERS THAT MATTER

Our Lady shares her heart with her children
The Blessed Mother in her Meditation in Lesson 7 THE MOTHER SUFFERS WITH THE SON shares what is in her heart how the evil one tried to the torment her, but she turned to the sure-fire pest eradicator: prayer and gave herself to the Divine Will. She asks us to do the same- turn to prayer for all louir answers and to withstand the suffering all must undergo if we are to help carry her Divine Son's cross. These meditative lessons, imparted by Our Lady to the Hidden Flower of the Immaculate Heart during Lent of 1993, are meant to inspire and prompt a greater understanding of the season of Lent in helping us all prepare for His Passion and Death, and ultimately the glorious Resurrection. Our Lady's "Quiet Gift" to Ireland speaks volumes at Knock
In commemoration of Saint Patrick's Day we bring you Ireland's most famous apparition today - the Apparitions at Knock, Ireland when the Blessed Mother appeared along with Saint Joseph and Saint John the Evangelist on the south gable of the Church at Knock in County Mayo in northwest Ireland. Not a word was spoken but the image of these three with an altar, cross and lamb with angels surrounding them spoke volumes. Four Roman Pontiffs have visited this popular site including Pope John Paul II on September 30th twenty years ago. For the installment "Knock and it shall be opened to you", click on THE AGE OF MARIAN APPARITIONS
We must decrease so God can increase
They say a picture is worth a thousand words, but the words of Bishop Fulton J. Sheen have been known to launch a thousand images in one's mind, one of the ways this late luminary did so much to evangelize the faith. Because of the urgency of the times and because few there are today who possess the wisdom, simplicity and insight than the late Archbishop who touched millions, we are bringing you daily gems from his writings. The good bishop makes it so simple that we have dubbed this daily series: "SIMPLY SHEEN".
"How much happier people would be if instead of exalting their ego to infinity, they reduced it to zero. They would then find the true infinite through the rarest of modern virtues: humility. Humility is truth about ourselves."
Medjugorje Monthly Message for FEBRUARY 25th
Dear children! Also today I am with you in a special way contemplating and living the passion of Jesus in my heart. Little children, open your hearts and give me everything that is in them: joys, sorrows and each, even the smallest, pain, that I may offer them to Jesus; so that with His immeasurable love, He may burn and transform your sorrows into the joy of His resurrection. That is why, I now call you in a special way, little children, for your hearts to open to prayer, so that through prayer you may become friends of Jesus. Thank you for having responded to my call.

" Soon, dear children, My Holy Mother will not be among you in the extraordinary way She has been for many years."
Those words come from the Sacred Heart of Jesus on the Solemnity of His Blessed Mother's Immaculate Conception in 1993 to the Hidden Flower of the Immaculate Heart in Message 438. Our Lord reaffirms that He will reclaim His kingdom on earth and urges all His children to return to Him and listen to His Mother's Messages. Our Lady prefaces this by preparing all for Advent in her 437th Message the day before, entreating all to persevere. For Messages #437 and #438, click on "I SOLEMNLY TELL YOU..."

More defenders of Pope Pius XII surface on one year anniversary of Shoah document
Volumes and volumes of material prove, without a shadow of a doubt, what the Vatican has contended all along: that Pope Pius XII did more to help the Jewish people during the terrible years of Nazi persecution than anyone else. That is why men such as Father Peter Gumpel, serving as the relator in Pius XII's beatification cause, are puzzled at those who have accused the quiet pontiff of not doing enough. Archbishop of Denver believes in the principle that if you build it, they will come
While some dioceses are closing seminaries, the Archdiocese of Denver is starting to teem with candidates for the priesthood; no doubt due to the excellent shepherd who guides his flock - Archbishop Charles J. Chaput, OFM Cap. and his predecessor Cardinal James Francis Stafford who have placed a special emphasis on evangelizing for the new millennium. Vocations are so much on the increase that Denver is building a new seminary to accommodate the influx as well as provide a link to Rome via the Pontifical Lateran University tie-in where students of Our Lady of the New Advent Theological institute can obtain pontifical degrees. Peace process suffers setback in Northern Ireland with another car bombing of prominent Catholic lawyer
In an apparent, overt act designed to halt the peace process in Northern Ireland, a car bomb took the life of a prominent Catholic human rights attorney in County Armagh. No one claimed responsibility but all those advocating peace on both the Catholic and Protestant side expressed outrage and condemned the murder as cold-blooded, stating it is an outright attempt to "sabotage the peace process at a critical time." Cardinals in Old and New World address abortion issue
In Scotland Cardinal Thomas Joseph Winning extended mercy to sinners by reminding his priests that all mothers who have had abortions can receive forgiveness and "make peace with God and their aborted babies" through a sincere confession without having to be referred to the archbishop for absolution as was the case prior to the changes in Canon Law. Half way around the world in Mexico City, Cardinal Norberto Rivera, Archbishop of Mexico City braced his flocks to be prepared to fight the legalization of abortion as something Catholics must not stand for in good conscience.
