PRAYER & DEVOTIONS
July is the month of the MOST PRECIOUS BLOOD OF JESUS and this day is formerly the feast of of this sacrificial shedding our Our Lord's redeeming blood. Below is the prayer of the Most Precious Blood of Our Lord Jesus Christ.
Almighty, everlasting God, Who didst appoint Thine only-begotten Son Redeemer of the world, and didst deign to be appeased by the shedding of His Blood; grant, we beseech Thee, that by our solemn service we may so honor what He paid as the price our Redemption, and by Its virtue be so defended here on earth from the evils of this present life, that we may forevermore enjoy Its fruit in Heaven. Throught the same Jesus Christ, Thy Son our Lord, Who liveth and reigneth with Thee in the unity of the Holy Spirit, God, world without end. Amen.

Pope reasserts sacredness of Sundays in Apostolic Letter
Written before May 31 of this year, the Holy Father waited until the day before he officially goes on summer sabbatical to release his Apostolic Letter Dies Domini which treats the reasons all Catholics must return to the reverence and respect for Sundays as the Lord's day, devoted to Him and to family. In addition, the prefect for the Congregation for Divine Worship spoke of the need for greater education of the faithful to the Sunday liturgy so Catholics can gain a greater appreciation for what God and his holiness are asking in the laws and this letter. 2000 priests retreat to Guadalupe on the eve of 2000!
Over 2000 priests from around the globe are gathering at the Shrine of Our Lady of Guadalupe this week for a special annual retreat, the third of its kind for clerics. The first was held at Fatima, and the second in Africa. Next year, the Year of the Father in the final year before Jubilee 2000, the retreat will be held in the Holy City of Jerusalem and during Jubilee 2000 in Rome.

No rest in Northern Ireland as Protestants continue to stir up violence.
Another night and day of violence sent tempers flaring and people scurrying in fear for cover as Protestant rebels continued to stir up violence with more firebombing this week, and all because they couldn't march through the Catholic section of Belfast. This "rubbing it in" makes no sense, but the underlying factor is that those who are promoting violence are those who were firmly against the Good Friday peace accord and this is their last ditch effort to disrupt harmony. Big easy not feeling so easy after radicals attack abortuaries
Dedicated pro-lifers abhor the kind of violence that was, heretofore, committed only in Florida but now it has spread to New Orleans where four abortuaries were ravaged by homemade chemical stinkbombs. Many believe this is not the work of pro-lifers, but radical pro-aborts trying to make it look like a pro-life act that will alienate the masses from pro-lifers. Remember, the father of lies works in half-truths and is cunning. For more, click on Pro-life or pro-abort attacks?.
