Today is the 17th Anniversary of the Apparitions at Medjugorje

Over twenty-five million pilgrims have visited this special Oasis of Peace since June 25, 1981 and Medjugorje has become a household word. The Blessed Mother's purpose for coming daily since that time is that her Messages from her Divine Son Jesus would become a household staple of action in an effort to save more souls. Below is her message from May 25th. The June 25th Message will be on line this evening.
Medjugorje Monthly Message for May 25th
Dear children! Today I call you, through prayer and sacrifice, to prepare
yourselves for the coming of the Holy Spirit. Little children, this is a time of grace and so, again, I call
you to decide for God the Creator. Allow Him to transform and change you. May your heart be
prepared to listen to, and live, everything which the Holy Spirit has in His plan for each of you. Little
children, allow the Holy Spirit to lead you on the way of truth and salvation towards eternal life. Thank you for having responded to my call. For more on Medjugorje, click on MEDJUGORJE
Unity can only be obtained by loyalty for united we pray, divided we are prey!
In completing our month-long segment on Loyalty to Holy Mother Church, we treat the prophecies portending to the antichrist and satan's timetable and re-emphasize that the only way to keep the number of casualties among souls down is to promote loyalty to the Church and her Vicar of Christ on earth - Pope John Paul II. This calls for unity among the dissenters and adherence to the teachings of the One, Holy, Catholic and Apostolic Church. The Holy Father has insisted on this throughout his 20-year pontificate. If we do not unite and turn to prayer, then we are indeed prey for the evil one. For the fourth and final part on Loyalty, click on WHERE IS HOLY MOTHER CHURCH HEADING AS WE NEAR THE MILLENNIUM?
Something old, something new, something borrowed, something blue!
This time of the year is traditionally when wedding bells are heard and the phrase above is so familiar. But it also applies to the new Faith founded by Jesus taking a page from the Old Testament and applying the New Covenant, Our Lord borrowed from the traditions passed down while giving us His Blessed Mother dressed in blue. That is part of what we learn in our early chapters as part of our retro marathon week on the early chapters of our on-going megaseries on the Mass and Church History. For the third installment Out with the old, in with the new!, click on THE HISTORY OF THE MASS AND HOLY MOTHER CHURCH.
Never let the Flame of Truth flicker
That is the essence of the Blessed Mother Mary's words in her 161st and 162nd messages to the Hidden Flower of the Immaculate Heart, which we bring you today. Our Lady urges her children to keep our lamps lit and never allow them to flicker or they could go out for satan will snuff them faster than we can say "we didn't know!" But we do know because God has given us His Church and sent His Mother to remind us of all the truths in the face of the lies spread by the evil one. Click on "I SOLEMNLY TELL YOU..."

HEADLINES:
Pope sets October for Croatian Pilgrimage
The Holy Father will arrive in Zagreb on the Feast of the Guardian Angels and Franciscans and finish up in Split, a Franciscan stronghold on the Feast of Saint Francis of Assisi. Ironically, it has been the long fued between Franciscan and diocesan that has caused more friction in the former Yugoslavia - both in Croatia and Bosnia and, in particular Medjugorje where the diocesan bishops have waged a campaign against the Marian shrine which the Pope has expressed a strong interest in visiting, but, evidently from the itinerary, not on this trip. For more, click on Pope's Croatian itinerary.
Youth are savier than people think Pope asserts
In his regular Wednesday audience at Paul VI Hall just off St. Peter's Square, Pope John Paul II refuted reports that his Austrian visit was not fruitful, maintaining that the press are out of touch with the resilience and resolve of the youth, especially in Austria where he was so encouraged by their enthusiasm. He expressed great optimism for the Church in Austria because of the youth who will be able to overcome the dissent currently festering in that country. For more, click on Austrian visit.
Pope appoints Vietnamese Archbishop to succeed Cardinal Etchegaray as head of the Pontifical Council for Justice and Peace
The Vatican announced the appointment of Vietnamese Archbishop Francois-Xavier Nguyen Van Thuan as the new President of the Pontifical Council for Justice and Peace, an ideal choice in the face of the crosses he has faced throughout his life. Coincidentally in the Archbishop's native country, the Communist government backpedaled on the persecution issue, denying they do not, but that they will continue to place religion secondary to the state, something that will not set well with most faiths - especially Catholicism which is fighting the same battle in mainland China with the National Patriotic Church. East Timor Bishops express confidence in new Indonesian President as Hope springs eternal
Bishop Carlos Belo of the Diocese of Dili in East Timor met yesterday with B.J. Habibie, president of Indonesia, and came away impressed with the new head's human rights stance and promise to "make things better for the largely Catholic country of East Timor, annexed by the Moslem Indonesia over twenty years ago. The bishop is confident changes will be made shortly and little by little, East Timor will receive what so many are demanding: freedom. For more, click on East Timor.
