Kos pleaded guilty to two counts of indecency with a child and one count of sexual assault on a child, both second-degree felonies. He is alleged to have molested four teenage boys when he was a parish priest in the Diocese of Dallas in the late 1980s and early 1990s. Kos is now facing three counts of aggravated sexual assault of a child and two counts of indecency with a child. If convicted on the more serious charges, he could receive a life sentence.
Kos was the focus of a $119.6 million civil judgment against the Diocese of Dallas last summer, in which the jury found the diocese covered up the abuse and failed to stop it.
