I was watching a talk show on Fox News shortly after Terri
Schiavo's feeding tube was removed, when a woman, and
I can’t recall her name, said that the Republicans in congress
are trying to push a bill through so that Terri Schiavo’s feeding
tube could not be removed.
Surely, I thought that even many members of the Democratic
party would come to the aid of Terri, but I was wrong. After all,
we are not talking about an unborn child whom this party has
no compassion for at all. We are talking about a living adult
who is NOT dying.
What does this say about the Democratic part? I have not
heard anything from the leaders of this party coming to the
aid of Terri, while the Republican Senate majority leader,
Bill Frist and the Republican House majority leader, Tom
Delay, Senator Rick Santorum, as well as many other Republicans
did not hide their feelings.
They thought it was an outrage that a woman who was not
in a coma, who was not in a vegetative state, who was not
on life support systems, who shows feelings, who smiles,
who tries to talk, who responds to outside stimuli, would be
denied food and water. As if we wouldn't all die, if denied food
and water.
Now, that the feeding tube has been removed, Congress has
been working frantically to save Terri’s life. The House passed
a bill which they thought would save Terri, but the Senate
passed a different version of the bill, which still leaves Terri in
jeopardy because House members have already headed home
for Easter recess and would not likely be able to take up the bill
until they return.
In a statement, Speaker Dennis Hastert of Illinois and Majority
Leader Tom DeLay of Texas, blasted Senate Democrats
for opposing the House version.
It is obvious that once a person loses respect for the sanctity
of life, it encompasses all forms of human life. To them, there
are no exceptions. Hence the more appropriate name of the
Democratic Party should be the "Party of Death." Their
support of the killing of 1.4 million unborn children every year
solidifies this term. Many of them suffer excruciating pain.
Here is the “kicker:” Judge George Greer who signed the death warrant for Terri – now get this – did not even go to see Terri – to see for himself, her condition.
You would think that would be the least he could do. Is his
time that valuable that he would order the killing of a human
being whom he judged to be worthless and should die without
even seeing that person.
Instead he just took the word of Terri’s estranged husband,
who for all we know, may have put Terri in her condition, as
they say that Terri’s current state of mind and body was due
to oxygen depravation.
Many things can cause this besides the heart stopping, including obstruction of the airways -- you know like choking, putting
a hand or objects over the nose and mouth.
I’m not saying that her husband Michael Schiavo is the culprit, but I am
saying that a red flag should have been seen by Judge Greer, inasmuch as Terri has been examined by 17 doctors including
10 neurologists and they all say that her feeding tube should
NOT be removed. That Terri could benefit from treatment and
therapy. One neurologist even said that she was making a phenomenal recovery.
Terri has been denied a MRI and other important diagnostic
tests. Specialists have said that Terri can be taught to eat on
her own and that with proper training, she can learn to talk again.
This case is mind boggling. One wonders how this could happen
in the United States. Where is Terri’s right to life, liberty and
the pursuit of happiness?
I have seen the video of Terri, as many people have, and if
her life is not worth saving than Heaven help us all. Please pray that congress or someone in authority will find a way to save Terri.

late and even if you have contacted them, it wouldn't hurt
to write and phone again. Terri's feeding tube must be
replaced as soon as possible.

Meanwhile, I have to ask just why are her husband and Judge Greer so afraid to allow
Terri the proper diagnostic tools and the proper treatment?
What could it hurt? Let me repeat that – WHAT COULD IT HURT?
This lack of proper diagnostic tools and proper treatment has
been going on for 15 years. What harm could come if for one
more year she was treated properly and THEN see the results.
Could it be that if Terri does recover and a good chance of
that would be with the use of adult stem cells, that she would
be able to divulge the source her incapacitation?
BINGO! Dead people tell no tales.
Is it any wonder that Michael Schiavo has already turned
down ten million dollars to let Terri live and have her parents
take care of her as they desire to do?
It is apparent that there is not enough money on this earth
that would entice Michael to prevent a very long and extremely
painful death by starvation, to his wife, Terri. Why? Because Terri holds the answers to what really happened that fateful night 15 years ago which plunged her into her unfortunate and helpless predicament. The heartless way in which she has been treated is something society would not let happen to a dog. And come to think of it, the way Michael has doggedly refused money to turn her over to her parents or seek any help for Terri is revealing. After all, what good is money in prison for murder if you can't spend it?
