Events that happened Today in Church History
Today is the 783nd anniversary of the establishment of the Feast of Our Lady of Mercy, also called Our Lady of Ransom through the perseverance of Saint Peter Nolasco who founded a religious order for the specific purpose of ransoming Christian prisoners and slaves from the Saracens during the years of the Crusades. This title was also added to the Litany of Loreto and the order was placed under the protection of the Blessed Virgin Mary by St. Peter Nolasco. Restitution must be made sooner or later
They say a picture is worth a thousand words, but the words of Bishop Fulton J. Sheen have been known to launch a thousand images in one's mind, one of the ways this late luminary did so much to evangelize the faith. Because of the urgency of the times and because few there are today who possess the wisdom, simplicity and insight than the late Archbishop who touched millions, we are bringing you daily gems from his writings. The good bishop makes it so simple that we have dubbed this daily series: "SIMPLY SHEEN".

Every act of dishonesty disturbs the balance of justice and therefore, demands restitution. The old law of Moses on stealing was, 'If he is found guilty, he must make restitution, giving back in full all that he hoped to gain by his knavery, and a fifth part beside, to the owner whom he has wronged.'
