The Rosary: The weapon of choice to stop pro-choice killing!
Two great Church events in the 16th century, that forever changed the course of world and Church history, were the catalyst for the Whittaker family. It was not lost on them that the two great court victories for Bush occurred on the two days in history that Our Lady of Guadalupe appeared to Blessed Juan Diego, imploring her children to stop human sacrifice back in 1531. So today she stands as the icon for Life!
In our commentary today, we continue our exclusive multi-part story that needs to be told, not only of the power of the Rosary, but the power of the family, in this case one special family who dared to move mountains because they believed. We are talking of the Whittaker family pictured here. ( Top: Greg holding John, Toni holding Anthony; second row: Bernadette, Marija Mir, Lucia, Elizabeth and Jacinta; bottom row: Joseph, Magdalena, Francisco and Anna). This phenomenal family started a grass roots effort called the Lepanto Rosary Crusade to raise over 3 million Rosary pledges, a campaign you heard about often in these pages in keeping you up-to-date and seeking your pledges during the interminable time between the recount, the court battles and the days leading up to President George W. Bush's inauguration. We believe Bush's success so far and his strong Pro Life stance he has taken are the result of the millions of Rosaries this family of 13 raised to help ennoble the President to restore the Sanctity of Life and defeat the culture of death just as Our Lady of Guadalupe did in 1531 and in 1571 when Don Juan of Austria secured victory over the Turks while Pope Saint Pius V pleaded for all to pray the Rosary. Then, as today, the Rosary has proven to be our most powerful weapon thanks to those who gave their fiat to enable God's Ordaining Will. Beware: The 57 vulgarities in the House is a "catch-up, catch-all blood-red container" for spreading the culture of death and condoning further bloodshed of the unborn!
Today, Dr. Frank Joseph follows up his exposure of the Senate Eight who have constantly served as executioners of the unborn legislation-wise, by revealing 57 members of Congress from a variety of states, 52 of which are House Democrats. Their voting record shows they seek to continue the bloodshed of the innocent unborns by passing pro-abortion legislation. Unless the bishops take action against these accomplices to murder, they, too, will be held accountable as accomplices...as will any Catholic who condones this wretched activity. It's a fact, it's canon law, it's God's Law and it trumps the US Law. For Dr. Frank's column today It's time to expose and excommunicate 'Catholic' pro-abort politicians see PRO LIFE PRESCRIPTIONS
Pope's plate too full to fail now!Fact that John Paul II's itinerary filling up fast for next three years shows signs he has no intention of slowing down or retiring
For those liberals who keep spouting that the Holy Father is getting too old and after the Jubilee he'll slow down and eventually be forced to retire, this story isn't going to please them. But for those loyal Catholics who look to John Paul the Great they will be encouraged by the fact that he is planning three years ahead including possible trips to Orthodox lands to areas hitherto unheard of such as Athens and Moscow and, quite possibly, even Beijing. LA's Cardinal Mahony caught up in swirl of Clinton Pardons and Scandals
The Archbishop of Los Angeles, Cardinal Roger Mahony is trying to do a soft-shoe backpedal after the LA Times revealed that he had intervened on behalf of a convicted drug dealer who the prelate didn't even know. It's sad that the Cardinal would make headlines for something like that rather than for standing strong for life against Clinton and the Democrats as he did at the National Convention. But since that time his silence has betrayed a total commitment to taking an uncompromising stand against the culture of death no matter what kind of pressure the money mongers might put on the Archbishop. The shame of the Clinton shadow stretching into Canada as Catholic Hospital in Ontario will share the shame if they allow him to speak
Former president Bill Clinton has repeatedly vetoed partial-birth abortion bans passed by the US Congress and strongly supported many
pro-abortion initiatives and other policies seriously at
odds with Catholic moral principles. He is considered by
many pro-life leaders to have been by far the most
pro-abortion president ever. Yet he is being welcomed north of the border to speak in a Catholic Hospital and Pro Life advocates are rightly incensed, not only for his anti-Catholic stance, but the fact that the Hospital is willing to pay him $100,000 to speak. For more, see Pro Life News

6.1 Quake paralyzes El Salvador one month after last deadly temblor
Irony of irony, the poor people of El Salvador, still digging out after last month's devastating 7.6-magnitude earthquake, suffered another jolt - a 6.1 quake exactly one month later yesterday morning that was much greater than the 3,200 aftershocks that followed since January 13th. Hundreds of thousands more have been forced to abandon damaged or destroyed homes with the heart of San Vicente, 35 miles east of San Salvador, pretty much flattened. Well over 100 have died, thousands more injured, many missing and utter destruction in the aftermath of this most recent temblor as global aid starts to scramble to send help, already thin from exhaustion For more, see Universal News

Death of a Giving Saint who is celebrated the world over
Today is the 1,732nd anniversary of the death of Saint Valentine, Bishop of Terni and Martyr who was imprisoned for aiding those going to their martyrdom. He had gathered a large following of faithful who followed his virtuous acts and emulated his courage by submitting as well to martyrdom for their faith. Valentine, said to have sent "love" letters on Christ to his people, converted his jailers in the same manner Saint Paul did. This infuriated the emperor Claudius who had him beaten with heavy and sharp clubs, then beheaded. His cult has survived the test of time and yet, today, he is more well-known in secular circles than ecclesiastical ones. What a gift! God's Own children!
They say a picture is worth a thousand words, but the words of Bishop Fulton J. Sheen have been known to launch a thousand images in one's mind, one of the ways this late luminary did so much to evangelize the faith. Because of the urgency of the times and because few there are today who possess the wisdom, simplicity and insight than the late Archbishop who touched millions, we are bringing you daily gems from his writings. The good bishop makes it so simple that we have dubbed this daily series: "SIMPLY SHEEN".
"Our imperfections in the face of God has its immediate compensation in the fact that God Who made us creatures will, with our cooperation, make us His children. Once humbled we become exalted, living no longer on the human level, but enjoying the glorious liberty of the children of God."
