Faith comes in many forms
It is often most visible in family where the lasting foundations of life, love, liberty and loyalty originate
We are pleased to debut in today's issue a new column that will run every Thursday on these pages. It will be a column written from the viewpoint of Faith in the Family by Joe and Jane Dalton, a young Catholic family from the nation's heartland who will share their heart - the heartaches and hardtimes, the highs and joys of life in the family, in the Church, and in society. Today's first column introduces them and their goals in sharing with you each week. We know you're going to enjoy their wit and wisdom. For their first column, What Faith in the Family is all about see FAITH IN THE FAMILY

Pillars of Strength
The World is better today because of two men with true vision and leadership who forged the frontiers of faith and hope universally
In our commentary today, we pay tribute to and show the parallel between two of the greatest men of the 20th century. These are two who began as actors; two men most responsible for bringing down the iron curtain; two world leaders who recovered from a would-be-fatal bullet wound early in their regimes; two men of example who upheld and continue to exalt God's Laws, values and the Sanctity of Life; two aging sages, who in their senior years, suffer from afflictions that sap the fullness of their body, but not their hearts. We are, of course, speaking of Pope John Paul II and former President Ronald Reagan who celebrated his 90th birthday yesterday. There is a stench emanating from the Senate that can be traced to those who claim they are Catholic
Today, Dr. Frank Joseph follows up on the hypocrisy of the Scribes and Pharisees of the Senate and House today among Democrats and Republicans who stubbornly hold to the culture of death agenda. What's even worse is that some of these call themselves 'Catholic.' This is an aberration that needs to be addressed. Today, he identifies who some of these wolves in sheeps' clothing are. Production begins for documentary of Pope's Life from book "Witness to Hope"
Catherine Wyler, the daughter of William Wyler, director of the epic film "Ben Hur," is planning to make a two-hour TV film about the life of John Paul II based on George Weigel's biography "Witness to Hope." Judy Hallet, a director of documentaries, is working with Catherine Wyler to complete the project. Hallet said an hour-long documentary was initially planned, "but the material is too rich and we have decided it should last almost two hours."

Bush focuses on compassionate faith as the watchword of his administration during Prayer Breakfast last week
President George W. Bush made his first appearance at the annual Prayer Breakfast last week and the watchword was "faith" as he told the assembly, "There are many experiences of faith in this room. But most of us share a belief that we are loved, and called to love; that our choices matter, now and forever; that there are purposes deeper than ambition and hopes greater than success. These beliefs shape our lives and help sustain the life of our nation." He left a lasting impression when he emphasized, "Men and women can be good without faith, but faith is a force of goodness. Men and women can be compassionate without faith, but faith often inspires compassion. Human beings can love without faith, but faith is a great teacher of love." For more, see USA News

For the past eight years militant pro-abort feminist groups have commandered

Italian priest championing cause for victimized Moldavian woman kidnapped and threatened
Evidently the sex-for-sale mafia are reading ZENIT. The same day the Catholic News Agency broke the news about Anna, a 28-year-old Moldavian mother, who was forced into becoming a veritable "sex slave" of the NATO forces, Father Cesare Lodeserto the priest from Lecce, Italy who rescued her and is speaking out, was kidnapped and threatened at gunpoint. The priest was released but many fear for his life, yet he is dauntless in protecting the victimized women. Death of the long-reigning Blessed Pope
Today we commemorate the 123rd anniversary of the death of Pope Pius IX, 255th successor of Peter at the age of 85. His pontificate lasted a phenomenal 32 years, second only to Saint Peter's time of governing the Church. During Pius' papacy he proclaimed the Dogma of the Immaculate Conception, convened the First Vatican Council and declared the Infallibility of the Pope when the Vicar of Christ speaks "ex cathedra." Also, on September 20th, 1870 to avoid further bloodshed, he was forced to agree to allow Rome to become the capital of Italy, surrendering to King Victor Emmanuel the Papal States except for Vatican City, which was shrunk to its present 104-acre site, thus ending over a millennium of the Church ruling the Papal States. God's silence often carries a telling message
They say a picture is worth a thousand words, but the words of Bishop Fulton J. Sheen have been known to launch a thousand images in one's mind, one of the ways this late luminary did so much to evangelize the faith. Because of the urgency of the times and because few there are today who possess the wisdom, simplicity and insight than the late Archbishop who touched millions, we are bringing you daily gems from his writings. The good bishop makes it so simple that we have dubbed this daily series: "SIMPLY SHEEN".
"As a parent will not for a time help his son with his studies, if he in the beginning said he could learn them by himself, so God sometimes shuts Himself up from us until we are sorely in need of help. Even then God does not force our will, but He wills that we should look squarely at the importance of self and acknowledge that we have used up our capital, that the world cannot help us, and that we have nothing in Heaven or on earth but God."
