The Democrats' demonizing of good and decency in the name of righteous pomposity exposes their hypocrisy
Today, Dr. Frank Joseph asks how can any decent citizen buy the hypocrisy that is being visited upon America by the lunatic left led by Senator Ted Kennedy, who pounds his fists in a purposely-planned-for-the-cameras show of pompous righteousness that reeks of all the Scribes and Pharisees were charged with by Our Lord. Yet the liberal media holds him up as their poster child in their cooperating effort to finger the blame for the politics of personal destruction on those who are seeking to heal and bring our nation together, not divide. It is in that latter unity that the fate of the innocent unborn lies. For Dr. Frank's column today The Gall and Hypocrisy of those who oppose Right and Good see PRO LIFE PRESCRIPTIONS
Have Faith in Faith-based agencies. They'll steer in the right direction if they are guided by the Beacon of God's Love
In our commentary today, we address President George W. Bush's latest initiative, implementing Faith-based initiatives to carry out the Corporal Works of Mercy. We tie it in to the mystical vision given to today's saint, Saint John Bosco and see a virtual reenactment of all he saw being carried out today as the Vicar of Christ's counsel is being heard by this new compassionate conservative administration who truly are interested in carrying out Christ's commands above temporal and immediate gains. The Holy Father resumes his ad limina visits with bishops in Rome
The great challenge for Christians in a godless society is the defense of human life from conception until natural death, John Paul II warned today. "The abortion statistics published over the last decades in your country are alarming." And, surprise, he's not talking about the United States but about Hungary as the Holy Father addressed the Hungarian bishops during their "ad limina" visit to Rome, the first such visits since November of 1999. "Do everything possible to encourage pregnant women to continue their pregnancy to full term," he strongly urged. The Pope conveyed his thoughts in his message to the Magyar Church, which embraces 6.5 million baptized Catholics among Hungary's 11 million people. Now that the nation's Communist persecution is over, the Holy Father observed, Hungary is living in a materialist society in which the life and dignity of man are in grave danger.

Faithful rising up in rebellion over runaway aberrations in church architecture, checking Vatican II documents
Finally the faithful are fed up with all the double-speak people like Sister Arlene Bennett, director of the secretariat for worship and liturgical formation for the Diocese of Gaylord, Michigan, are trying to pawn off on parishioners. Catholics are starting to fume over these aberrations that are denuding our churches of style and substance and going back to the Vatican II documents in discovering what really was intended by the Council Fathers. Eureka! It contains nothing of the propaganda Sr. Arlene is spreading. Another good thing about this increased scrutiny by the faithful is that the U.S. Bishops' new document "Built of Living Stones" had better be carried out in full harmony with what Rome has decreed For more, see USA News

Last German Diocese to comply with Rome reaches agreement on counseling certificates for women seeking abortion
The last Roman Catholic Diocese of Germany has reached an agreement with the Vatican that will allow its pro-life program to continue offering
certificates of counseling to women who may then seek an abortion.
Bishop Franz Kamphausof Limburg said the compromise would allow him to
continue offering the certificates until the end of the year. They serve
as proof of counseling and must be obtained by women in Germany to legally
have an abortion. Limburg is the lone remaining diocese to resist. The German Bishops Conference, which decided in 1999 to comply with the Pope's request to stop issuing the certificates, said it welcomed
Kamphaus' agreement with the Vatican. Germany's other dioceses have
already ceased to issue the certificates, although many continue to offer
counseling. For more, see Pro Life News

Cardinal sees hope for mainland China from new missionary spirit in Taiwan
The Catholic Church in Taiwan is committing
herself to be a bridge for the evangelization of mainland China,
highlighted this week Cardinal Jan Pieter Schotte, Secretary
general of the Synod of Bishops. In declarations to Fides during
his trip to Taiwan, Cardinal Schotte said that Church in the
island "welcomed the mandate issued by the Pope in 1984. It is
giving serious attention to his call to be a bridge between the
universal Church and the Church in mainland China, today a
martyr Church."

The Pope to whom we owe the Nicene Creed
On this date 1,687 years ago in 314 Pope Saint Sylvester I was elected the 33rd successor of Peter. It was this saintly Pontiff who convened the First Ecumenical Council at Nicea where the Nicene Creed was formulated. It was also Sylvester who established Sunday as the day of Sabbath, ergo a holyday in honor of the day Our Lord rose from the tomb on Easter Sunday. Since 1054 there has been a dispute on the day of Easter and recently Pope John Paul II has called for all Christian faiths to celebrate Easter on the same day. Our exterior behavior is revealed by what is within
They say a picture is worth a thousand words, but the words of Bishop Fulton J. Sheen have been known to launch a thousand images in one's mind, one of the ways this late luminary did so much to evangelize the faith. Because of the urgency of the times and because few there are today who possess the wisdom, simplicity and insight than the late Archbishop who touched millions, we are bringing you daily gems from his writings. The good bishop makes it so simple that we have dubbed this daily series: "SIMPLY SHEEN".
"Only in a limited sense is it true that circumstances make us who we are; they do so only to the extent that we permit them to form us. It is not so much the outward that influences the inward, as the inward that influences the outward. If the reservoir is to be kept clean, all the streams that pour into it must be pure."
