APOSTOLIC LETTER TO END JUBILEE
VATICAN (CWNews.com) -- Pope John Paul II will sign a new
apostolic letter on January 6, as he formally closes the Jubilee year.
After the ceremony in which he will seal the Holy Door of St. Peter's basilica,
the Holy Father will sign the new document, entitled Novo Millennio Ineunte.
The 60-page document will be introduced to the media at a press conference
on January 8, with Cardinal Roger Etchegaray-- the chairman of the Vatican
committee that has supervised the Jubilee celebration-- answering reporters'
questions.
Novo Millennio Ineunte will urge the faithful to continue the spirit of the
Jubilee: the spirit of conversion and dedication to life in Jesus Christ. The
document reportedly contains no new initiatives, but urges local dioceses to
build on the spiritual foundation of the Jubilee, to reinvigorate the life of the
Christian community.
